Reeducation Posturale Globale (as its original French name) or RPG® Method, is an innovative approach to assess, diagnose and treat postural and musculoskeletal complaints. It uses soft manual therapy on specific postures, while helping to release miofascial blockage of the disfunctional muscle chain, to gain mobility and flexibility of the specific area. It eliminates unnecessary tension and restores the normal muscle tone.
At present it exists in 24 countries, this method was developed in 1980 by the French physiotherapist Phillipe Souchard (who was inspired by Francoise Mezieres work based on global postural active stretching exercises and body awareness). Only qualified physiotherapists with a bachelor degree are able to follow the RPG® Method specialization.
Assessment and Treatment
The RPG assessment is based on the concept that all the muscles of our body work connected in chains as an integrated and coordinated neuromuscular system. When one part of the chain stiffens this tension is transmitted along the chain. By its evaluation, it is possible to find out the cause of a functional dis-balance, many times translated as pain and movent reduction of the joints.

During the session we work with specific global soft stretching exercises. Starting with no tension and progressing gradually in order to gain more flexibility of the muscle chains.

The importance of the breathing
All muscle chains cross the center of our body, therefore the respiratory musle chain will always absorb tension and generate a degree of restriction of the breathing. This is way the RPG Method incorporates the mobilizations of the thorax, helping to avoid compensations and mantaining a good and functional chest mobility during all the session. It is known that stress, pain or any emotional tension, affects the breathing patterns and in consecuence the thorax mobility.
With the RPG® Method you can treat
- Low back pain
- Neck pain
- Cervicogenic headache
- TMJ dysfunction
- Postural problems (Scoliosis; Lower limb misalignments (genu valgum, genu varum, genu recurvatum, foot misalignament)
- Shoulder problems (frozen shoulder, shoulder pain)
- Tendinitis
- Carpal tunnel
- Knee pain
- Shin splints
Treatment planning
The planning of the treatment will be planned during the first assesment as well the treatment main goal. The number of sessions can vary depending on the type of help requested (for pain treatment chronic or acute or postural improvement).
For scoliosis, postural and lower limb’s misalignment corrections, total number of sessions is expected to vary between 10 and 30; followed by a follow up plan.
Frequency: the sessions are normally planned once a week; in some cases twice a week may be advised when sever pain.
The duration of each session is 60 minutes.
Fees
Standard sessions: (50 minutes): €75.
Payment method: You will receive by email a payment link (Tikkie) with an invoice which has to be payed within 15 days.
Health Insurance: There is no contract with any health insurance. Check on your their website to know more about reimburement policy.
